Outdoor Security Camera System & Accessories

Feel comfortable knowing that you can keep your family protected and your property safe with an outdoor security camera system.  As the price of a security camera system becomes more affordable, more people than ever enjoy peace of mind knowing their families and properties are protected 24 hours a day, seven days a week.   From a single camera to multi wireless cameras equipped with night vision and motion sensors, you can find a security camera system that is right for you and your wallet.

What You Typically Find In A Good Outdoor Security Camera System
Camera

The cameras in your system should be able to stand up to the weather.  They need to be waterproof and should be able to operate in low temperatures if you live in a cold climate.

They need to have durable bodies that will not rust.  Most systems will provide cameras equipped with night vision (generally using infrared LED lights).  The range of the night vision security camera can be anywhere from 15 feet to 150 feet depending on the strength of the infrared lights.

Wireless Capability

The easiest cameras to install are the wireless type.  No need for drilled holes through your walls or window panes, you can simply hook up your cameras, plug them in and receive live images wirelessly.  Not all systems have wireless security cameras so make sure you look specifically for ‘wireless’ if that is what you want.

Cables

You will need to connect your system together with signal cables from your cameras to your TV, VCR, computer or DVR for recording.  You’ll also need power cables for your cameras and DVR (if included in your system).  It is recommended you determine where you want to mount the cameras ahead of time so you know how much cable you’ll need.  When buying a complete system, make sure it includes all the cables and power cables needed to get your system up and running.

DVR

This is a hard drive that allows you to record and playback your security system’s video feed.  They typically come with options you can set such as continuous recording.  As the memory becomes full, the new video signal will begin to overwrite the oldest video signal, ensuring you always have the latest hours or days of recording.  Some systems provide enough memory to capture the latest 150 days of recording.

Web-Ready

You can find outdoor security camera systems that provide either a web ready DVR or computer hookup that provides you live monitoring through the internet.  You can monitor your home and property from anywhere in the world where you have internet access.

Motion Sensing

You can get systems with cameras that are equipped with motion sensors.  The security system will turn on and begin recording when the motion sensors are activated.  This is a handy feature if you do not have a DVR or computer with lots of memory.

Web Ready DVR Security System
It is comforting to know that you can keep your family protected and your property safe.  You can be anywhere in the world and still see what’s happening around your home or business.  A web ready DVR security system is a complete recording and monitoring system that lets you see your live and recorded footage from any computer with internet access.  The DVR included with the system allows you to record many days (some systems record in excess of 150 days) of video. You can get cameras that come with night vision that automatically activate in low light conditions so you can see your property day or night.

Wireless Security Camera System
A wireless video security system includes wire free cameras that can be set up without a professional installer or drilling any holes for wires.  With these types of systems, you get an all-in-one security camera system that produces real-time video surveillance for your home or business.  For outdoor use, look for weatherproof cameras.  And if you live in a colder climate, check the temperature ratings of the cameras to ensure they will function properly when the weather turns chilly.   For someone looking for an easy to install security system, make sure you check out a wireless system.

Easily set up and protect your home or business with an outdoor security camera system. These systems typically include weatherproof cameras and you can get them in convenient do-it-yourself installation kits.  The camera units easily mount to walls or ceilings and typically include several feet of cable.

If you need to monitor your home or business while you are not there, then it is highly recommended to get a security camera system that includes a DVR recording device.
